Hello TYLA Parents,

I'm reaching out to share some exciting news.  TYLA recently hired a full time boys Youth Director named Brian Donovan to help grow our program now and into the future.

To date, the organization has been totally volunteer driven, but in order to strengthen and build a long term program, the board concluded it was time for a year round dedicated and experienced lacrosse coach to build for the future.

Brian's main role and responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and developing age appropriate lacrosse skills and curriculum as our boys move from k-8th grade

  • Recruiting of new players and retention of existing players

  • Recruiting and hiring coaches for our grade level teams

  • Interaction with PE teachers and other campus personnel within the Anderson Vertical - creating opportunities to present lacrosse in a fun and engaging way to their students during the school day

  • Assisting the Anderson High School lacrosse coach by implementing a fully integrated program between the high school boys and youth program.

Brian graduated from Smithtown East High School, NY in 2007 as a 3-sport athlete (soccer, basketball, lacrosse).  He was a 4-year Varsity player and 2-year Captain on the lacrosse team and received Academic All-American Honors his senior year.  He continued on to the next level and played all 4 years Varsity at Tufts University, graduating in 2011, winning the DIII National Championship in 2010, and DIII National Runner-Up in 2011.  Since moving to Austin, he became head coach for the 2026 Iron Horse team starting in June.

Due to Covid, it is difficult to predict when and where we can begin practices, clinics, play days, etc.  But we anticipate several fall lacrosse opportunities and we will keep you updated.

We look forward to having Brian as part of the TYLA team and a bright future ahead!

Thanks,
Kevin Knebel
